Members of the Firm


    Alan B. Pick is a 1970 graduate of Stanford Law School and is presently on its Board of Visitors.  He began his professional career in 1970 as an attorney for the Antitrust Division of the United States Department of Justice in Washington, D.C.  Among other things, he successfully handled a large contempt matter dealing with misrepresentations by telephone.  In 1973, he joined Dickstein, Shapiro & Morin in Washington, D.C,  a firm which had an expertise in handling large antitrust matters, primarily for plaintiffs.  The firm represented more than 40 states and other governmental bodies in antitrust matters, giving Mr. Pick an opportunity to work and develop relationships with numerous Attorneys General and District Attorneys.  From 1978 through 1979, he was a special consultant to the Federal Trade Commission Regional Office in Los Angeles and consulted on antitrust and litigation matters, as well as consumer protection actions.  Mr. Pick co-founded the predecessor firm of the Law Offices of Alan B. Pick in 1982.  In 1995 the Law Offices of Pick & Boydston and Brian D. Boydston formed Pick & Boydston.

    Brian D. Boydston graduated from Loyola Law School in 1991.  He worked for the Law Offices of Alan B. Pick from 1989 until Pick & Boydston was formed in 1995.  Before joining the Law Offices of Alan B. Pick, he worked in litigation related to securities, antitrust and torts.  He also handled various tort liability matters.  He has worked on most of the matters handled by the office.  He has developed considerable expertise in representing the interests of insureds and third party claimants in obtaining insurance coverage.  He has drafted Policies and Procedures manuals for numerous companies and also authored an Injury and Illness Prevention Program now used by a variety of manufacturing, service and direct marketing businesses.  In addition, he has drafted standard contracts for employers, independent contractors, and independent sales representatives.  He has handled complex complaints against direct marketing companies by customers and numerous regulatory agencies including the Better Business Bureau, local police and state attorneys general.  He has participated in virtually every aspect of civil litigation.  In addition to securities, antitrust, and tort litigation, he has significant experience in insurance coverage, commercial, and civil rights litigation.  Last year he filed his first appeal which resulted in a reversal and remand in our client's favor.

    Irving C. Parchman is a 1983 Graduate of Stanford Law School.  He graduated from Stanford University in 1980 with a B.A. in Philosophy.  Upon graduation from Stanford Law School, he worked for several major law firms in the Los Angeles area, concentrating his practice in the areas of civil and business litigation.  He was associated with the law firm of Stein, Hanger, Levine &Young in Encino, California, California, from 1991 through 1994, where as a member of the entertainment department of the firm he drafted and negotiated complex agreements on behalf of major record companies, publishers, producers and artists, and litigated various entertainment and business matters, including intellectual property disputes.  Before joining the Law Offices of Alan B. Pick, he was special legal consultant to the Senior Vice President of Business Affairs at Motown Record Company, L.P., where he was involved in the negotiation of various recording, music publishing, book publishing, and multimedia agreements.  He practices in the areas of civil litigation, transactional music law and intellectual property.

    Patrick E. Michela graduated from Pepperdine University School of Law in 1994.  He has worked for the firm and its predecessor since 1992.  He has worked in all facets of the firm's practice and has extensive experience in civil litigation, state telemarketing laws and employment law.  Mr. Michela was a Note and Comment Editor on the Pepperdine Law Review which published his Comment entitled "'You May Have Already Won . . .': Telemarketing Fraud and Efforts to Prevent It" in Volume 21.

    Mark K. Drew graduated from Loyola Law School in 1993.  Mr. Drew has participated in all aspects of trial preparation, drafted partnership contracts, leases and employment agreements.  He has substantial experience in insurance coverage, complex securities litigation, NASD arbitration, criminal, commercial ERISA (Employee Retirement Income Security Act) and tort litigation.  Before joining this office, he worked for law firms in the Los Angeles area, participating in all phases of litigation preparation, including product liability, family law, personal injury and criminal law cases.  Mr. Drew interned with the Los Angeles Public Defender's office where, among other things, he was second chair in a nationally televised murder trial.  Mr. Drew also worked for the California Attorney General's Office where he participated in an extensive policy review of the use of DNA identification evidence by prosecutors in criminal trials.  Since October, 1994, he has coached the national champion Byrne Trial Advocacy Team at Loyola Law School where he trains select students in the techniques of conducting full trials.  As a student at Loyola Law School, Mr. Drew received the American Jurisprudence Award for excellence in Civil Procedure and Trial Advocacy.

    Beverly Hopkins is a Legal Assistant handling telemarketing matters.  Prior to becoming a Legal Assistant for the Law Offices of Alan B. Pick in July 1986, Ms. Hopkins had administrative experience in business.  Since working for the Law Offices, Ms. Hopkins has been involved with registering telemarketing clients with the California Attorney General and other states as well as providing quarterly updates for clients for those agencies.  She has also gained extensive experience in handling customer concerns in conjunction with the clients and State and local agencies and Better Business Bureaus throughout the Country.
